Extensions Guide

To stream anime or read manga in ShonenX, you must add extension repositories. These repositories act as bridges to third-party content sources.

Disclaimer

ShonenX is an aggregator tool. We do not host any content. Users are solely responsible for the extensions they choose to install and the content they view.

Supported Extension Formats

ShonenX utilizes a powerful runtime bridge to execute extensions from other popular communities natively:

  • Mangayomi (Anime, Manga)
  • Cloudstream (Anime)
  • Aniyomi / Tachiyomi (Anime & Manga)
  • Sora (Anime, Manga)
  • Kotatsu (Manga)

How to Install Extensions

  1. Navigate to Settings → Extensions inside the ShonenX app.
  2. Tap the Manage Repos floating action button in the bottom right.
  3. In the "Manage Repositories" sheet, select your Target Engine (e.g., Mangayomi, Tachiyomi, CloudStream).
  4. Paste the repository URL into the Repository URL field (if you have a URL copied, you can tap the quick-paste suggestion).
  5. Select the correct Repository Type (Anime or Manga). Note: Some engines like Kotatsu or CloudStream lock this to their specific type automatically.
  6. Tap Add to [Engine].

Troubleshooting Matches

If you cannot find a specific Anime or Manga, keep in mind:

  • Title Variations: The matchmaking algorithm relies on text matching. Some sources use Japanese romanized titles (e.g., Boku no Hero Academia) while others use localized English titles (e.g., My Hero Academia). Try searching with the alternate title.
  • Alternative Spellings: Variations like Bungou Stray Dogs vs Bungo Stray Dogs can occasionally confuse the matcher. Double-check your spelling and explore alternative phrasing.
